Hi All,

I need some advice, please.

My client is opening a game farm & lodge. We are adding a booking system to the website so people can book both on and offline. My client wants the checkout to take place in the currency of where the website visitor is from. SA people to pay in ZAR, Europeans to pay in Euro, and so on.

What would be the best payment gateway to use for this that is also integrated with WooCommerce?

Appreciate all your help, thanks in advance,
Beven

Probably PayPal. It will automatically convert your USD amount into the customer's currency on their confirmation screen, and it provides peace of mind with international online payments. People abroad don't know wtf PayFast, Peach Payments, Paystack, PayU etc. is but everyone is familiar with and trusts PayPal.

Just make sure the client's prices cover the transaction fees and currency conversion costs. FNB has a PayPal withdrawal service, and you can also cash out to a free Wise US bank account, convert to a ZAR balance within Wise and then send to most SA bank accounts.

My client wishes to use the PayFast payment gateway. If you use the PayFast payment your WooCommerce base currency has to be in ZAR. However my client wants to display the currency on the frontend in USD. Does anyone know if this WooCommerce currency conversion plugin is compatible - https://woocommerce.com/products/multi-currency/ - I have already spoken to the tech guys at Payfast and they are not willing to recommend a conversion plugin, even though they say I can use one as long as it is compatible with their payment gateway plugin.

I’ve tried all of those multi-currency extensions and none of them integrate well with PayFast besides this one: https://woocommerce.com/products/multi-currency-switcher/

The nice thing about this extension is that you can make your checkout page use ZAR and make it use PayFast only as the payment method, so it will convert the USD price to ZAR allowing PayFast to be used. PayFast is very fussy about currencies and only works when the price is ZAR.

Woo has a 30 day refund policy if you wanna give them a try.
