I ask my 3 colleagues on Tuesday to help me on Thursday with a rather big risky job. On Thursday morning, when arriving at the office, one came to me and said he must get 3 quotes for a car dent [headlamp fitting broke], and he is going to do it today. The Boss is on leave this week. After I told him you will go today to this planned job, he he started speaking about other stuff, and we all left without him to do the job.All of them knew and confirm that they are / is willing to help.
 
I was walking my dog to the park when the cat left me with nothing but a pizza box and a canary dancing with a broom.
 
It seems like the 3 colleagues were only helping you out but had no obligation to do so. In that case, the only thing you can do is look for alternative help.
 
... but.... you.... uhmmm, maybe... but the... if they.... uhh....

I think the best course of action is to have intercourse with the canary on the broom.

It's clearly about his three blind friends at work who are running after the farmer's wife without fear of a carving knife instead of being at work with their tails between their legs.
 
Your colleague bailed on his work responsibility? Report him to the boss!

I'm getting a quote for that red one & want somebody to accompany me in the brown one incase I have to leave it behind :)
