I wish to work on a big project with experience developers. I have been trying to find a job, as a developer but it not that easy as I thought. Sad

It is sad but unfortunately the truth. You need experience before a company will hire you for a big project, too risky to take someone on without the right experience. No matter how much you pay them (a little or a lot) they can still screw it all up. It's like climbing the corporate ladder: you gotta start at the bottom, build yourself up over time and take the right opportunities as they arise. Can't go in expecting to do exactly what you want, unless of course there's a bit of nepotism going on.

Where about are you? What languages are you comfortable in? Do you have any open source code or some kind of a portfolio?

I am in durban. I m comfortable with java and c++. I have some java projects that we did as a team

national certificate NQF Level 5

You don't have a post-graduate degree in any related field and no experience?

No offence but you would be lucky to get a job, never mind on a big project.

Have you gotten any interviews?

Yep. There are no shortcuts in this field. Go to a uni (if finaces allow) and spend 3+ years and get your degree (or honours) and come back.

I'm in the same position. Qualified but no experience, hence no one wants me.

What kind of work are you looking for and what are you qualifications.

I can definitely point you in some directions (I'm assuming you are looking for something in Cpt?)

My Advice, take the fist job you see... I qualifed from Cape Tech with a Nd in IT in 2000. first job only got me R2000 a month but its about getting you foot in the door and learning how companies do things because it is very different from what you would have learnt at cape tech.. it took me about 5 years but I was upto 45k a month in 2005.. you just have to stick with it and learn the industries as opppose to learning the technologies,,

That's my intention but companies are just unwilling to employ a junior.
