So I just saw this promoted in my Facebook stream:
https://www.facebook.com/workplace

I guess it makes sense as a productivity tool (and the premium version is free until September 30) but it's not something I'm gonna try spread around at work. We're one more productivity tool away from a mass revolt lol.

Is anybody here using it at work?

Facebook & Productivity in the same sentence...........

I see many employers adopting this.....

I reckon that's why they cleverly chose the name, Workplace by Facebook. Facebook Workplace might have been a bridge too far.

And you can't argue that the technology stack they're trying to sell works: they've been doing status updates and photos since the start, and live video streaming and rich mobile functionality is where their new bread and butter lies.

Facebook is blocked at work, but my assumption would be that this is something along the lines of Yammer?

It seems to be richer than that, more like Basecamp. Yammer is like what Facebook was in the early 2000s, so they've evolved into something a lot more immersive these days.

Thanks. I last used Yammer in 2012, so no idea what it looks like today. Just see the Yammer updates on the Office 265 updates mail every other week or so.

In essence, I won't have any use for Workplace by fb also.

No doubt the marketing behind this is top notch, but i personally see it as just another ad infested platform

You could call it Sharepoint online too :D with the discussions and other addons enabled.
