I cant handle the ridiculousness of the internet in this country
We are all being taken for an absolute ride, but the ISP's still have the cheek to user phrases like "world class internet"

SA is by far the most expensive country in the world for internet, evne compared to other African countries

I mean look at the kind of bul***** they adverise to us stuff like "get 40MB free data when you blah blah blah..."

40MB? are you joking??? I send emails bigger than that.
When I'm in the UK I pay about R150 for uncapped, 4MB line that includes my broadband TV, so I get like 50 channels, I can hire/stream movies. All of this for the same as what you might get like 3GB if you lucky in SA, or maybe 100MB if you using 3G. And th best part, when I ordered it a few years back, it was installed THE NEXT DAY

Someone should take all the ripoff artists to the competition commission. My entire income comes from the web, and it is so hard to make a living off it here because of the price and poor connectivity, I have decided to emigrate

^ what he said. me too. ( and this is not some casual sunday afternoon statement... no... in 2 months i am packing my **** and moving to Germany... and 60% of my decision is simply because i cannot get a decent internet connection. when your income is the internet, uncapped 4mbit is the MINIMUM - and im talking about REAL (unshaped) uncapped. Which here costs anything from R2000 and up. lol. 200 Euro for a 4meg pipe. Someone, Somewhere is making MASSIVE cash. )

@mrman...don't use this phrase again,it has been banned by ICASA

Yes banned by ICASA, networks will come up with some other ridiculous claim...

Totally agree with this thread, even though there has been price reductions between networks, viz. CellC, it still seems to be unaffordable to the masses, especially with all the fine prints in contracts and the hectic OOB rates........I miss the R50 uncapped from MTN where they "forget" to throttle me back after 150mb, and I used to get about 4Gigs in that 24 hours....a system glitch that has been rectified but why can't we get better deals on broadband/wireless internet.

consumers need better prices
greed is the problem for some of these guys
