According to News24, it looks like a number of games have already sold out:

Johannesburg - Tickets for the World Cup semi-finals and final, as well as two of England's first round matches in South Africa, have sold out, FIFA said on Friday.

FIFA said there were no more tickets for England's matches against the United States in Rustenburg on June 12 and Slovenia in Port Elizabeth on June 23.

Tickets for the match between world champions Italy and Paraguay in Cape Town on June 11 and Brazil and Portugal in Durban a fortnight later have also sold out.

The final phase of World Cup tickets sales will open on Tuesday with more than 400,000 seats still available.

Fans have until April 7 to bid for tickets for 53 of the 64 matches at the tournament, which runs from June 11-July 11.

The fourth phase of sales is again to be conducted over the internet, and also for South African residents at bank branches, but this time will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

World soccer's governing body said it had sold 585,175 tickets, some 70 percent to local residents, in its third sales phase, which closed last month and which was drawn on a lottery basis and allocated this week.

Looks like this 3rd phase went really well, I only managed to get 2 tickets to a group game though. Glad I applied in the 1st and 2nd phases though, tickets don't look like they will last much longer. If people are waiting for over the counter sales, they may be very disapointed.

I'll be trying again in the 4th phase though, really want quarter final and 3rd/4th play off in PE. Looks like SA will have a great sold out World Cup! :D

Well this is unexpected  :D.

As if there was every any doubt.

I knew that it would happen, and am sure that others did too, sadly there were many people on this forum saying at the no one would want to come to SA for the WC.

Update, according to FIFA.com here these games are sold out:

England vs USA Royal Ba***eng Stadium
Italy vs Paraguay Cape Town Stadium
Slovenia vs England Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium
North Korea vs Ivory Coast Mbombela Stadium
Round of 16 Ellis Park
Round of 16 Cape Town Stadium
Quarter-final Cape Town Stadium
Quarter-final Ellis Park
Semi-final Cape Town Stadium
Semi-final Moses Mabhida Stadium
Final Soccer City

As if there was every any doubt.

I am almost certain there were more than a few people who doubted, if not hoped, that all matches would be poorly attended never mind games like England vs United States and Slovenia! I am also not sure there was no doubt about North Korea vs Ivory Coast being a sell out (yes, it is only a 43,500 seater but that is still good going!).

Selling fast!

Now we wait for the typical South Africa bashers to post their drivel on how the WC will be a complete disaster...

Been seeing people take pics of the 1st few rugby and soccer games in cpt at the new stadium.. very impressed :)

They can bring it!

Where are all the haters? I was expecting a barrage of comments about how FIFA is ripping them off, and tickets are only being given to foreigners and no one wants to come to SA and SA sucks, and I hate SA, and SA sucks and .. and...

Come one poeple, where are you all hiding now that a positive thread pops up?

Dumb question: Easiest way to try get a ticket for a cape town game? Tried a while ago on the Fifa website, looked too much of a hassle and gave up.

Fifa website is the easiest way
