World ends May 21, 2011.

Thought it might be fun to start the year of with yet another doomsday prediction from yet another religious cult. Here's the story:

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110103/ap_on_re/us_rel_apocalypse_soon

And here's their site. Be sure to check back on the 22nd to see what excuse they're going to come up with. I'm guessing: "Whoops, slight miscalculation! It's actually next year! Or ten years from now! Or maybe a hundred! :D

Well, if this doesn't work there's always 2012 to look forward to!

What time zone?

Sorry, couldn't resist.

The world could very well end on the 21st May 2011.

The point is that we will not know in advance and neither can these 'prophets', so what is the point of all the predictions?

They have predicted the doomsday so many times before and each time, when it does not happen on the auspicious date, they come up with a lame excuse. THAT makes me angry - don't mislead people like that!

Sorry guys, I've already given away all my possessions and will be sitting on the roof of my house on May 21st.

ah cool, I missed the last end of the world ... glad somebody gave me the heads up for this one

Sorry guys, I've already given away all my possessions and will be sitting on the roof of my house on May 21st.

you should sell your house before then ... duh

I said Preventable.

Why prevent it? There's so many crappy ways to die, might as well die in style. Doubt it'll end all life forever anyways, the debree of the earth is gotta end up somewhere.

Anyone want to give Malema a good hiding, Friday 20th May would be good.

That said, they seem to have allowed themselves a 6 month loophole:-

http://www.ebiblefellowship.com/outreach/tracts/may21/

On October 21st, 2011, God will completely destroy this creation and all of the people who never experienced the salvation of Jesus Christ along with it.

On Judgment Day, May 21st, 2011, this 5-month period of horrible torment will begin for all the inhabitants of the earth. It will be on May 21st that God will raise up all the dead that have ever died from their graves. Earthquakes will ravage the whole world as the earth will no longer conceal its dead (Isaiah 26:21). People who died as saved individuals will experience the resurrection of their bodies and immediately leave this world to forever be with the Lord. Those who died unsaved will be raised up as well, but only to have their lifeless bodies scattered about the face of all the earth. Death will be everywhere.

The greatest zombie convention of all time.

What chance we can get the Fab Four to give us one last farewell concert.

Not to worried, I got my towel ready...

I lold.

It's going to suck for the 2012 guys is it does happen on Saturday.

Why risk it all on one day? It's far better to be prepared for it already and wait for it to hit you, if you know what I mean :)

/checks shotgun ammo

As a side thought, I realized the other day that if the world does turn into a zombie apocalypse, us in Joburg are the safest in the world, what with our generators, high walls, electric fences, dogs and guns etc.

I should just about be able to finish The Witcher 2 before the 21st, if I put my mind to it and forego sleep and food...

Hang on, the world can't end this year. My passport only expires in 2014...

What kind of present do you buy for a wife who's birthday is on the last day of the world? A parachute? A gas Mask?

As an aside, the Rapture is a fraudulent misinterpretation of certain Christian scriptures, ie a heresy held by less than 2% of Christians. It was unknown for 1900 years, and has nothing to do with authentic Christian eschatology. (This isn't the place to debate it so I won't be drawn.)

2% really? Because I've grown up with Christians, in fact almost everyone I know is Christian and they all believe in the rapture. All the pastors I know do too and not just in this country but back in Oxford too. I'm actually stumped as to how you can mis-represent Christians like you have with a straight face, considering I've never in my entire life heard of Christians not believing in the rapture and I've met possibly thousands :wtf: :wtf:
