I don't see any reason to pick gold over say platinum?Which is why we should all be buying gold right now.
When the poopies hits the fan, the world will go running back to gold because there is still no better value store.

Personally I'd prefer some kind of currency basket design.
That's if you can buy it. Which is becoming very difficult to do. Most of the "gold" that is traded today is in the form of gold certificates. There's something like 50 ounces of gold represented on paper for every ounce that humans actually posess. It's an immense ponzi scheme and the day's coming when it's going to come apart at the seams.Any precious metals, but historically gold has always performed well during times of economic uncertainty.

You aren't?Gold bug, are you?
I wouldn't say no if someone were to offer me gold.![]()
No, it really is different this time. The last 7 years have been a depression in all but name. And soon they're not going to be able to lie about it anymore.interesting, This debate about economics is repeating itself around each decade... nothing new
Rumblings certainly...but no viable plan B.There have been rumblings about the dollar's sustainability as the world's reserve currency for many years, but never in a publication as mainstream as The Economist, which means it may well be prudent to take notice.
And who gets to create the currency in the new order, hmmm? All thats required is a reserve currency independent of any country's domestic currency.
The mechanics to put this into effect are quite easy and it will be rather seamless, the only problem is political will.
