World's richest revealed

I'm surprised by the amount of Walton family members in the top 20. These lists always make me sad, wish I had this kind of money :-(

And here are the South Africans on that list. Thought you would've added them to the article:

SA's richest person, Johann Rupert, ranks at 179 with $6.6billion. Down from where he used to rank at No. 63 a few years ago.
Nicki Oppenheimer ranks at 182 with S6.5billion.
Christo Wiese ranks at 384 with $3.5billion.
Patrice Motsepe at No. 490 with $2.9billion.
Desmond Sacco at 974 with $1.5billion.
Stephen Saad at 1342 with $1billion.

Just because I'm poor, I shall hate them. Greedy SOBs! Spread the wealth!

I thought Gates and Buffet sign something in line of giving away most of their riches to alleviate hunger and to countries with malaria etc. That was a few years ago, seems like they are still accumulating.

They gave billions away and yet still managed to make that money back.

I would think Ivan Glasenberg tops all of those. Isn't he worth $70billion?

Edit: $10 billion (it was R70 billion at the time the Glencor listing was announced)

To a lot of those guys all that money means sweet ***ol.
You'd expect spending sprees and fancy cars but no.
Buffet drives his own car, doesn't have a cellphone or even a computer at his desk. He lives in the same house he bought in '57.

Now THAT is modest :)

Where's the Free State's web designer on that list?

And I failed to make the list again this year. :(
It is unfair the way the Forbes guys compile that list. They only vote for the people they know.

They have donated many a billion through personal wealth. Also as far as I know Bill and Melinda Gates have pledged that more than half of their fortune will go to charities etc etc after their death.

One of them should at least try to swim in it like Scrooge McDuck.

I Lol'ed :D

Also IIRC he prefers the cheeseburger at a local place to any of the "high" roller dishes.

I admire him for who he is even after who he has become.

Lol :D
