Police shot and killed a disturbed man inside one of Brooklyn’s most prominent synagogues Tuesday morning, apparently after he asked for a Bible and then stabbed someone there, sources said.

The scene in Crown Heights early Tuesday morning.

The bloodshed happened at the world headquarters of the Lubavitch Hasidic sect at 770 Eastern Parkway in Crown Heights shortly after 1 a.m., sources said.

A spokesman for Chabad-Lubavitch said that witnesses reported that the man said “kill the Jews” but police said the man said “I will kill all of you”. Police said they could not confirm what the man said.

One witness told the Post that he did not hear the maniac say anything about killing Jews.

Calvin Peters, 50, had walked into the basement of the synagogue where people were praying, sources said.

According to police sources, Peters asked for a copy of the Bible, then briefly walked out, sources said.

He returned and stabbed an Israeli student in the side of the head for an unknown reason.

“He’s a very serious student he’d been studying all day,” witness Levi Deutsch said about the victim. “He was stabbed in the side of the head he was conscious but he was bleeding a lot.”

Another witness flagged down cops who were passing the headquarters.

The 50-year-old suspect asked for a bible before stabbing the Israeli student in the side of the head.

Officers then confronted the man in an encounter that was captured on a dramatic video.

As Peters brandished the knife, an officer pulled his weapon, promoting onlookers at the synagogue to say “Hey officer don’t do it” and implore Peters to drop the knife.

Peters then shouts “You gonna shoot me?” prompting the onlookers to exclaim “No, no, no don’t shoot, don’t shoot.”

Peters then repeats “You gonna shoot me,” to which the officer responds, “If you don’t drop the knife I will.”

After several demands from the officer, Peters then puts the knife down on a table and puts his hands up, prompting the officer to holster his gun.

It appeared as if the encounter had been defused. But Peters is seen suddenly grabing the knife again, prompting the officer to shout “Stay the f–k away from the knife now.”

Other officers then appear in the video as Peters storms around brandishing the knife. Then, moments later, a single shot is heard, after the camera turns away from the chaotic incident.

Sources said one of the officers fired one round into Peter’s body, killing him.

Another video shows officers standing over the man as he was handcuffed.

“It’s the first time this has happened at a New York synagogue,” one member said.

“I come here everyday to know that somebody died here, it’s scary. It needs to be a secure place.”

The stabbed victim was at Kings County in critical condition.

The suspect was taken to Kings County, where he died.

For his to be on the same level as yours he would have had to call them a raghead or sandn***er.

Anyway, pretty much the whole thread took him on when he said that as he had no basis for saying it.

Actually I got an infraction which I think is ridiculous but I take it on the chin.
Funny I never insulted anyone but really.......whatever.

Well he asked why I have an issue with Islam or Muslims .......I don't have issue with anyone who answers my questions against terror and violence.
If you however don't speak out about it and show your support for terror and hatred for jews ....Israel. ....Christianity. .....women. .....etc etc then yes I have issue with you

Sometimes people can be for neither side, because both sides are unreasonable or it can be that they just don't care.

The idea that you are either with us or against us, has been used to many times to force neutral people to bolster one side. A side that can not muster any logically convincing argument.

It is a form of bullying.

You are free to express your opinion, but expect others to do the same.

I am entitled just like everyone else is to have an opinion of who I am dealing with based on their beliefs and whether or not those people are people I would like to associate with. Tell me If you for example believe in something and I violently disagree with you, are you going to want to be my friend? No didnt think so

I dont sit on the fence with anything so with me its either one side or the other.
I dont see why that should be an issue. Yes I am not a liberal hippie tree hugger thats PC.

You have the right to decide what you believe in, if that is something that turns out to be violent and you support the aggressor dont expect me to agree with you
 
People often confuse, intending to do good and therefore assuming that their actions are therefore automatically right.
 
As I said earlier, it was just a crime.

Not a hate crime.




This thread has however made me realize that prejudice is insidious.

And the way this thread was moderated, served to protect only a few. And in doing so, hid a post that spoke volumes. <I will say no more on this issue, as I believe that it is over>




I however maintain, the perp was a bad guy, he injured some one that was truly innocent. Technically he might have been criminally insane at the time of the attack, but that does not make him 'not a bad guy'.
