“We want to know why the officer had to kill him. There was a moment where Calvin put down the knife and moved away from it. The officer holstered his weapon and turned around. He hesitated!” Peters said.

“He should have just rushed Calvin while he was unarmed and cuffed him or taken him down. Or even then, he could have just tasered him. The officer was so close to my brother at that point, he could have done anything he wanted. He could have shot him in the leg 10 times if he needed to. Why did he have to aim for the heart?” he said.

Distraught, he added, “I know what he did was wrong. It was horrible. But there had to be a better way — aside from taking his life.”

I watched that video. If I had been there, I would have put him down the instant he picked up the knife again. I think they gave him a fair chance.
Important to keep in mind:
He had already stabbed someone (so not just a madman waving a knife)
They had no idea he was mentally ill

As I said earlier, it was just a crime.

Not a hate crime.




This thread has however made me realize that prejudice is insidious.

And the way this thread was moderated, served to protect only a few. And in doing so, hid a post that spoke volumes. <I will say no more on this issue, as I believe that it is over>




I however maintain, the perp was a bad guy, he injured some one that was truly innocent. Technically he might have been criminally insane at the time of the attack, but that does not make him 'not a bad guy'.
