worthwhile cpu upgrade

What do you use your rig for? Primarily gaming and there is no worthwhile upgrade. Primarily work stuff like rendering, 3d models, etc and the 1090T is the best CPU you could pop in there.
 
mainly games hey... so I guess there is no need to upgrade! Just a bit behind with the news in the CPU market so I though maybe there was something substantial on the market worth getting.

stock is 3.4ghz so I should be able to maybe bump it to 3.6ghz comfortably but last time things went poof! :confused:

Think I'll just leave it be
 
Poof as in dead?? What cooler were you using?

But no, no need to upgrade your CPU right now. If anything, look at your GPU or if you are feeling fancy a SSD
 
water cooling... Corsair H50

poof as in smoke was coming out the back of the PSU... initially thought it was the PSU, but upon further investigation found a burn mark on the mobo right next to one of the memory slots... It wasnt a fuse/capacitor anything like that... was just the track that blew out... Got the mb swapped out but scared to try that again!! :erm:

got a 5850 and also got a SSD :D

maybe another 5850 and run in crossfire but it seems silly with the new ATI cards around the corner... ?
 
I would not buy another 5850 right now, unless you get a awesome deal on one. Would just wait for the full lineup from ATI and Nvidia (everything should be out by Feb) and then make a decision.
