Would you do this swap?

back in the day, I had an alfa gtv6.
was great to drive, but hell, you had to keep sticky tape & press stick handy at all times !

Quality is excellent - Alfas and Fiats are all assembled in Italy again, and they have got their act together - the older ones assembled here and in India were a bloody disaster.

As for not seeing many around...you won't - Alfa is a niche market in SA and sales figures are low enough for them to be relatively rare on our roads, when comparing with any Jap or Korean on the road.

Well I've had a noise from my engine bay during heavy traffic, Alfa said it was a factory fault and its been "repaired", but its still there :/ Apart from that, the sunroof is designed quite badly that you cant have it open while driving (too much noise). Everything else is perfect though.

Test drove the ct200h today, and it is super comfortable! Power is okayish, and fine for what I need. Have asked them to source me one. Also test drove the is350, man that is a beast! Just not for me at this stage :P

Didn't you also get a new gearbox after just a few hundred KM? Someone on the forum with a Alfa QV

You will miss the sexiness of the alfa, they make cars that are awesome to look at and go like stink too.

You are thinking wisely Izzzy. The CT200h for everyday use is the perfect car, especially for traffic.
Why would you want to burn extra cash for nothing every month if you can save it? Petrol is not getting any cheaper as well!

I was faced with a similar situation recently. I have a RunX RSi and was plotting the 86 for a daily, but I looked at it long term and decided to get a Citroen DS5 instead. Car is light enough for daily use and then big enough for family use, comes with all the gadgets and has enough grunt when needed. I wanted the CT200H F-Sport but it was out of my budget sadly:(

As you say, when u are driving to work during the week, traffic is way too much to use a car with much power. Rather drive in luxury with gadgets and save the gas money over a year for a holiday....that's what myself and the wife are doing, drive nice-ish daily cars and save enough for a local holiday one year, then overseas holiday every year after....alternating like that.

This is called evolution - lifestyle > fancy car
My next cars are sure to be a Hybrid for a daily and Lexus ISF for the weekends

Both cars are great.. This is more of a lifestyle decision than anything else.
