Would you switch from XP to MacOSX Lion

I'm running XP sp3 on my Dual Core laptop, after buying an iPad 2 a couple of weeks back, I'm keen to try out MacOSX Lion on my laptop.

Will it be a big jump?

All I need on laptop is Office, Ultravnc, Teamviewer, OpenVpn to connect to work.
Other than that I'm just curious about how it'll look, does it use ntfs?
Will I be able to connect it to our Server 2003 network easily enough?
 
Personally, I wouldn't install OS X on anything but a Mac. Although, with the right hardware, you can make a decent Hackintosh.

Hell I would switch to Dos rather than XP

XP is as secure as open minivan filled with cash parked in the middle of a taxi rank in Alex.
 
If you're going to hackintosh expect crashes and upgrades breaking "patches"... So I don't recommend a hacked OSX on your everyday laptop rather use a spare. If you're sold on OSX buy secondhand or demo Macs first cause they're cheap.
 
Maybe I should try a "skin theme" first to see what it roughly feels like.

Prepare to battle a bit here. It took me so long to get a Mac with OSX10.5 onto a domain, but in the end I did. Logon worked with a domain account, Entourage worked with Exchange, and I could access files on a Server 2003 server. This was almost 5 years ago and I haven't dealt with a Mac and domain since so I don't really remember specifics. I do recall that a lot of tinkering was involved, security changes on Server 2003 had to be made, and GPO settings edited slightly.

Other than that it worked pretty well. Even had VMware Fusion on it which also worked a treat.
 
LOL I made themes in 2003 for XP to look like OSX, it's nothing like running OSX.

obliviously it's not like running the real thing!
I'm thinking more along the lines a "desktop" icon placement and the toolbar setup, getting used to the look of it.

My advice for people wanting to try out a mac or move to a mac is usually do it if the applications that you want are available. All the ones you have listed will work, and will not have any issues. I have no trouble getting onto corporate domains with my mac (including using openvpn VNC etc), and am quite happy with lion (unlike a lot of people)
Hackintosh does work, but like most people here have said, not all the drivers are supported, so expect things to not work perfectly.
Mac OS X does support reading from NTFS drives by default, but not writing. There are ways around this...
Legally you should not install mac os x on a PC, but ...

It's a huge jump. At the very least you should get Windows 7. The choice should be between Windows 7 and Mac OS. Haven't booted XP in ages, thank god! XP is outtahere!

If you REALLY have to work between Mac and PC you can use a File System called ExFat, it works very well especially on win7 systems :)
