If I had no other work, then YES. Any job >>>> no job. People should stop complaining. Supply and demand. If you can get better elsewhere, go for it.

Its a gross invasion of privacy. I would write my boss an anonymous letter/email telling him to remove the cameras or be publicly branded as a perv and to have sexual harassment charges brought against him.
AFAIK the R250 "stock deduction" is also illegal. Loss control is his problem, not yours. Ask him if its a license fee to steal R250 worth of goods a month.
When I was studying I worked as a waiter in a restaurant. They used to charge us R10 "breakages" every night until someone went to the ccma about it. They had to stop after that.

I was a waiter at *cough* Dros *cough*, and they charged us breakages per shift as well (some days up to R50), i didn't go to CCMA, just felt that if i have to pay R50 breakages, i might as well either)

a) Break +- R50 worth of merch per shift
B) add plates/glasses/forks/knives/spoons/place-mats/candles to my home collection :)


ah, to be a student again. (after a few months, it looked like you went to a dros if we had a braai at my place)

Reality check to all those that want to become IT techies: This is the norm!!!!!


R2500 is an excellent IT techie salary BTW - never mind the fact that I pay my maid more than that and she is incapable of switching on my computer.

I use to be an IT store manager and can confirm that low salary, unreasonable deductions, forced overtime and no growth is the norm - not the exception. The only way to move on is to become either a developer (what I did), network specialist, network admin (like the techie under me did), M$ qualified or a postman (like the other techie under me did).

The sad reality is that the market has always been flooded with unskilled labour that is prepared to the work for R1K as their parents still look after them.
 
There is no use complaining about your job in a forum. Its only up to you to what you are going to do in the future. Look for a new job while you are working now, send out your cvs, I am sure you can find a better job.
 
Also worked as IT techie for R3000 a month in a computer store. None of that other stuff even though that you mentioned and I had 5 years experience.
 
I blame the high-schools who let all those tech colleges go there and promise an abundance of work and a bright future if you have A+.
A+ is so common in my generation, it makes you about as special as someone who can lift stuff.
