WoW on 512kbps

Well I am on 4MB and was disconnecting like mad with 25 man last night. I am using SAOL uncapped with WOW tunnels and still get DC'D. Alot of my south african guild members are using the 50G unshaped from Afrihost and they are loving it.

Wont be the addons since before I switched over to my iBurst, I disabled all addons except for Grid+Clique.
So no dbm, skada, decursive etc.

I am thinking it could be related to the "end-of-month" effect where everyone uses their cap up on the 31st/30st.

its hard to say what it can be, unless it happens daily, then turning things on and off and changing settings here and there is the only way to diagnose. if its once every now and then, it becomes immensely hard to find the fault.

/resurrect

Last night I got my 512k Uncapped Unshapped adsl account from mweb.
I am leading a 25m guild with ventrilo and last night we did Nefarian.

I was watching my bandwidth usage and saw that its reaching the max of 52~54 KB/s and then I promptly get dc'd.
After a couple of dc's, I switched back to my iBurst and saw that the max usage once the adds are up and Ony does a lightning discarge is around 76-80 KB/s without getting dc's but starting to lag.
Before I try and switch over to the 4MB line, I want to know if there is anyone here that is raiding in a 25m guild and using vent at the same time on a 512k line without problems.
I did 1 25man raid so far with no problems. At the time we were using Vent, now on TS3 so I think this counts. On a 4mbit/sec line that can do 3.4mbit/sec on speedtest, and I had 0 problems, though latency did go from the usual 230ms to 350ms but was very playable. Using WA with personal proxy you can ping/trace is ares.hero.za.net

WA here also with proxy and I sit @ 210-220ms in 25 man

512 should be fine tbh. Game is not suppose to spike that high imo
Don't use Mweb
Don't use Leadtrix with proxy
Try disabling addons like Omen
Try http://eu.blizzard.com/support/article.xml?locale=en_GB&articleId=19465
While u checking other things make sure your CPU & GPU heat is fine (Real Temp).
Check your SNR values on router
You could also try http://www.iobit.com/gamebooster.html

Dunno if any will help, its just things I've done when desperate :p

We had our first 25m (Wyrmbreaker 25m HC) last night and I tried out my 512k ADSL (Mweb).
On the trash in BoT I constantly dc'd as soon as more than 3 mobs where being nuked down and raid healing getting heavy.

I see my usage going up from 10KB/s-15KB/s to the limit of 50KB/s that I have seen on the 512k.

I have tried the GameBooster from Iobit and it actually resulted in worse gaming than without it, so undone the changes it made and uninstalled.

While on the trash in BoT last night, I asked everyone to do as much AoE as they possibly could when we pulled on of the side packs.
This meant Healing Rain, Efforecent (druid ground thingy), Chakra ground thingy, mages, locks, DK's and each and everything that can do something that should result in loads and loads of numbers being pushed down the pipe.
I was on my iBurst during this and only had a slight increase in latency during this (while 2 ppl actually dc'd :D ). This was in conjunctions with 3-5 people talking on vent ( so add about 25-30KB/s to WoW requirements). But no DCs.

So at this stage, it looks grim for my 512k ADSL since the iBurst is actually out performing it.
I am looking at the 4MB line but will need to see what my options are atm.

I checked my CPU and GPU temps and they both where between 45 and 65 deg the whole night.
I want to / need to use my addons that I am since I am leading these raids and require some more info on screen than most raiders do.
So I would like my connection to be able to handle any raid that I throw at it.

Are you using an antena?

Sounds like you get good performance on IBurst?

Not using an antenna. I have full signal where my modem is standing (middle of the room, length wise, and next to my pc.)
Since my last rant (check the iBurst forums) I am getting between 300 and 500 ms in org/raids.
The main reason why I want to switch is 5 years of when there is a problem, its either my fault (according to tel tech support) or they just dont respond) and I want to have a more stable experience for once.
