WoW over Telkom DO 3G

Hi all

I have tried numerous internet connections from Wisp's , Vodacom 3G , MTN ....... and all except Vodacoms packages gave me a decent playing experience.

BUT ... I went and got the Telkom's DO 3G ( Only the SIM ) and tested it this weekend and my oh my did it perform well.

I personnaly feel that its far better than WISP's and better than other 3G companies.

I had constant latencies of 480/520 ms , once or twice had a lag spike but we all know that Northend has its times , specialy in Dalaran.

I had these speeds with only 1 to 2 bars of signal and I can only imagine where it will go to if I get full signal.

I also use Telkom 3G for Warcraft 3 and it is very good. I get pings to the local server of about 60-70ms

dont forget it is still a new service and contention ratios are low on the towers
this will all degrade with time as is typical of telkom.
but enjoy it while you can

Thats EU, I assume. Wonder what it'll be like for US.

Then there's worrying about spikes when the service becomes more popular and contention increases.

Correct it is EU. Also keep in mind i'm playing on Sylvannas. One of the oldest servers in EU and also the most buggy one.

SIM + Activation is currently free of charge and if you already have a 3G enabled device like a cellphone or E220 you would not need to buy or take it on contract.

In my case I am using a E272 and works fine. You would also just need to get your hands on the Telkom software , I'll check if I cant upload it somewhere.

Monthly fees start at R149 for 500mb and if you go over the monthly data they charge you 0.30c per mb.

And for the prepaid option , nope nothing like that atm.

When MTN 3 g jsut came out it was awesome to play wow with now its utter crap.

Use to get 350-600ms max now its 800-4000
Why i got adsl dont regret getting adsl.
