WTB: car audio usb drive

Alternatively, Sandisk have a similar device: the Cruzer Fit.

Takealot sells them for less than R100. Paid R90 for an 8GB two weeks ago.

EDIT- I see that you found the Cruzer Fit yourself. I wouldn't recommend the 16GB- I have not found a vehicle head unit that supports 16GB FAT32 drives (at least mine and a few friends' don't).

i think i can only go to 16GB on my mp3 payer

Just remember to check out the exact specs of your car radio. Mine has a upper limit on the number of songs on the USB drive and as such I only use part of the capacity on the 16GB I have.

Just thought I'd mention it -- it's easy to miss in the manual. :)

For interest's sake,
My radio's manual states:

"The USB flash memory supports a maximum of 4 GB per partition.
The unit recognizes only one partition."

I use an 8GB flash filled to the brink with music in the radio and it works.

Am I missing something? Wonder if a 16GB stick would work in mine.

Looking at some online manuals for several usb head units, none of them specify the max size of the usb (except for mine) only that a single partition must be used. How do you find out the max size usable then?

Trial and error I guess. Which is why I would rather play it safe and get the 8GB.
