WTF is wrong with Firefox eating up memory!?

1. Open Firefox and go to the Address Bar. Type in about:config and then press Enter.
2. Right Click in the page and select New -> Boolean.
3. In the box that pops up enter config.trim_on_minimize. Press Enter.
4. Now select True and then press Enter.
5. Restart Firefox.

Now when you click the minimize button, Firefox should instantly reduce to just under 10 megs. When you restore the window again, it will be considerably less than before. It works pretty well.

With 7 tabs open, mine got reduced by 20megs:D

Uhm has annyone checked it yet? I mean REALLY checked?
Do this:
1. apply this fix
2. bring up Task Manager and open firefox.
3. Note the amount of memory used(memmory used wil increase), confirm this by looking at the firefox process memory used.
4.put is back to performance tab in Task manager and minimise firefox.
5. Is there a decrease in memory used?
6. Check process memory again, yes it has decreased but memory used in system has not decreased.. hrm..
7. restore firefox.
8. wait 5 minutes and check system memory in use.. stil the same huh
9 check process view of firefox, its bigger now right.. wait a couple minutes more and tada its back to normal size

What are your experiences now with FireFox 2?

I'm not too sure, but for me, it is now much worse.

Memory alloc on my machine often go to 240k+ for FireFox !!!

This is the only thing that bugs me about Firefox

I would rather use IE 7 beta 3. Are all, Maxthon is only a glorified Internet Explorer 6.

Thats a very simplistic way of looking at Maxthon. I suppose if thats the way you think, then thats whats in store for you.
