I just got a number of mp4 videos and added them to my library ... But noticed they're not scraping and therefore unavailable. I'm sure it can play MP4 ... So is it the naming convention that is preventing scraping?

My previous files that worked are (for example) Spider-Man (2008).mkv ... While the new is Spider-Man (7.5) (2008).mp4 ... Is it that rating added in the FileMaker causing issues?

Thanks

Try browsing to the folder and selecting movie information from the context menu. It will give you a whole host of options to choose from. If it doesn't, then your naming convention is wrong. My movies are in separate folders (and when you tell xbmc what the content is, remember to tell it whether each movie is in a separate folder or not) with the name and year for more accuracy. Some have xvid and other nonsense but they scrape just fine. I'd definitely remove the 7.5 rating from the file name though...

Damnit. Use Filebot to rename your files. If it can't rename, they won't scrape - the you go to MovieDB or TVDB and find the correct name.

That was my next question ... ;)

Thanks guys

Spiderman specifically is an odd movie that always has issues scraping.

When it scrapes it normally assigns the wrong one to the file and when it doesn't scrape just bugger all happens.

I wrote an app that fixes your filenames AFTER they all have the correct XBMC NFO files in their folders.

You run it, specify your movie path, and it moves them all to your specified output path, but all renamed correctly.
DMG.HA.xvid.1990.rip.engsub.avi will be put in a folder named "Home Alone (1990)" and the avi will be renamed to "Home Alone (1990).avi"
The .NFO file will be renamed and moved as well, along with the TBN file too.

So basically, if your library has screwed up filenames but have the correct XBMC metadata exported into your folders, it will tidy up your files & directories.

Here is the link:
https://anonfiles.com/file/89bf02192aca81f2df9b10327ca76bd7

NOTE: It will not move any AVI's that do NOT have a .NFO file, so be sure to check your "Input Path" after Processing for any remaining files.
Test with 1 or 2 movies first if you are not sure how to use this program. (It's very simple though!)

media centre master renames movies and folders, and adds all the XBMC friendly metadata to the folder. You just need to confirm what movie is in the folder and let it do its stuff.

Best way I found doesnt matter what tools you use

(Folder)Movies
-(Folder)Movie Name(year)
--(File)Any name
(Folder)Series
-(Folder)Series Name
--(Filder)Season #
---(File)Any Name s0#e0#

Scraper have yet to fail on that convention.

Agree with alphas naming convention... also use sickbeard and couchpotato to automate this process...

Series names occasionally require the year also.
