Thanks sir. Im leaning towards that 1 on Take-alot, its a decent looking 1 hey.

I expect that the specs over-extended the proper working distance. Possibly a bit of directional DB gain. I suggest using a USB cable extender and bring the receiver a bit closer to you.

This is what I have done with the wireless keyboard that I use. Within 1.5 to 2 metres no problem, further than that it stinks.

I like it but it is not a very big remote, slightly longer than a Samsung Galaxy S4 mini... fits nicely in my hands but then again I might just have small hands LOL

Nice, thats about the size as my TV and Blu Ray players remote.
 
I use XMBC Remote- an android app. As the box is on the wireless network and so is my phone, it's pretty decent, no need for line of sight etc.

So I tested the remote and it works from any angle in the room. It also worked from the room next to where the htpc is with the door closed. I also checked its size again and its slightly longer than a S4 mini but not as wide.

Yeah, i also use Yatse, its an awesome 1, but i need 1 dedicated just for that.

I don't always have my phone with me in the TV room.

I'm using my PS3 Bluray remote with my HTPC running Windows 8.1. I've tried a whole lot of remotes, including the phone apps, but the PS3 remote is by far the best that I've used. A mate and I have created a mapping for use with Eventghost. If any of you are interested, just shout and I'll post it up along with a small tutorial on how to set it up. All you'd really need is a Bluetooth dongle in addition to the BD remote.
