XBMC Supersport Addon

Been having a lot of buffering issues all of a sudden on my raspbmc setup over the weekend as well...
 
For those experiencing buffering on the XBMC plugin, it is actually not buffering at all that is happening.

Looking at connections made by the DSTV Flash player, it seems it is actually connecting to livepass to authenticate your session against their servers. So what happen is, XBMC is not doing this, and in turn, they drop your RTMP connection, at which point the stream on XBMC actually stops, and after a while XBMC then reconnects to the RTMP server, just to get dropped again.

I am not sure if this happens with VLC, but the disconnection on XBMC happens randomly, sometimes early, sometimes later. The only way to fix it now...because the flash player is so scrambled, the only real way is to make use of it inside XBMC. There is an example plugin that already does this, so with a complete rewrite it could happen. If we rewrite the HTML code, we can also resize the flash player to fullscreen, so that shouldn't be a problem either.

Interesting, and makes much sense! Does livepass drop a cookie after authentication is passed? If you logged into supersport website first and ran the stream, kill the stream then open up xbmc to view. Will that work out?

I have absolutely no idea, most of what I know currently is guesswork, because I don't have access to the source code. So its possible that could work, but in my experience it doesn't, because I have had it open on both my PC and my HTPC in the past and the HTPC one kept on getting killed while the one on the windows pc with flash kept on working.

Anyone would like to comment whether this happens with rtmpdump + vlc? - cause I haven't really used my own program much over the last few months - been very busy.

But then I can also maybe investigate when I have more time....
 
Firstly thank you so much for bringing Supersport to me and my friends.
Its been working fine for months(more than 6 months) until I decided to clean my pc.
I reinstalled everything as suggested by earlier posts and it was worked fine for me.
I watched the first 1 hour of the SL vs WI final the other day and then it just blacked out all of a sudden.

After trying to log in, I got the same error message as the other posters.
''Error in action 385: StartIndex or Length are out of range: Start Index is 1 while text has only 0 characters''
I suspected it had to do with my log-in details so registered a new one. Even with the new username(DSTV) I still get this error message.
Can someone please please please help me as this has been the first and only sport 'channels' I use to watch intl sport.
I did read in other previous posts about keeping everything in one folder? Could this be my problem (not sure what to do there-hope this is it) or is there something Supersport have done to stop the streams?
Is it still streaming okay for everybody else?
Again this has been my saviour for all my rugby, cricket, footie, golf, everything man.
Please help. Even some suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

for the gents with buffering issues, I only get it on my 1mb account. When I use my 2mb account, no buffer issues
not sure if that will help
 
So I registered with my mom's stuff and our smartcard; but I can watch SS2, but currently we have the compact subscription.
Is this suppose to happen?

Will try on XBMC.

Alright, I gave up, I don't know how to pack the zip file that XBMC likes it, so instead followed the Repository route which seems to work.

Download this zip: http://ares.hero.za.net/xbmc/repository.tinuva.addons.zip
Install in the latest XBMC.

Then go and install DSTV Supersport 1.0.1 from the tinuva repository. This version should work, I only tested live streaming. You will require to configure it with a username/password before it will start working.

Next step will be to make the folder listing faster in a future version, which you should get automatically once you start using this repository.

I did that, also went to the online directory, same story.

I logged in my credentials in the settings tab; but I'm being told: Make sure you have a smartcard linked to your DSTV Ondemand account.

Guess will have to stream on the website.
