XBOX 360 Coming Nov 22

No planned release date for ZA as yet - don't hold your breath.
 
Yup. Could be like the original XBox... just did not appear, despite Microsoft SA saying it would.
 
so we can pre-order our imports just in time for Xmas... woohooo!!!!! :D
 
Well sites like Take2 and have2have are planning on bringing them in. I dont mind paying the price for the console , but R800 for a game is sick
 
what do you mean no planned date for ZA?

we're never on the release lists for any console other than playstation but that doesnt mean the consoles wont be available to buy at certain import stores in the first week of the xbox's release.

there was never a ZA release for gamecube and xbox and nintendo 64 and nintendo DS etc etc but I have those right now... so justgo to an import store if you want it. and of course we are an unofficial extention of the EU release phase just liek australia anyway, so when its released in the UK it will be available for store owners/distributors in ZA to buy and sell. They just dont pick the consoles up ussually because we live ina country of idiots where playstation is apparantly awesome and everything else is rubbish (even though in reality its the other way round)

also theres this sad 'anti microsoft because my friend thats leet says i must use linux to be smart' wave of opinion in ZA so you end up with all the former windows idiots on linux being idiots they're and buying playstations just because they got it in thier head soemwhere down the line that microsoft is rubbish... even though they are one of the largest companies int he world and therefor have the resources to not only make stuff that cant be made elsewhere but release thier stuff in dead end markets like ZA even though the profit margin are extremly low. Whereas the companies ignorant people in this country want couldnt give a lick about za and have no intention of selling here either.

let the leets keep their playstations, this leaves us "informed" people with more chances of getting a Xbox 360 in SA... ;)

Even though we're not on the list, I'm glad to see they're doing a "global launch" give or take a week or two. It's time companies started realising that the consumers are "global". If they won't bring it in the importers will and disrupt the market.

Does anyone know if the Xbox is going to be region free?

On the MS evil overlord thing, just remember Sony is just as evil - betamax, Memory Stick, Blu-ray they want to lock out competition as well.

Any word on www.origenxbox360.com? I see there's a new bunny and the first ones moved .. . .

Many places... in Cape Town at least I know of Megatech / Sub-Terrania in Long Street (http://www.megatech.co.za, as well as one or two stores in the V&A Waterfront. Last I saw Take2 (on-line), was stocking them as well, and a few other local on-line importers (Xmania - don't have the link - at work right now).

Yup, R1800 from Take2.co.za.

They're probably 'grey' imports, but with service levels in this country you'd never iss the support anyway :P
 
Well with Take2 now supporting the first Xbox, I'd think there is now a greater chance that the Xbox360 will be released locally.
 
and gamecube is even at major stores like game, but even when the stuff is stocked we're not a major destination so nobody besides sony will bother advertising

I got my xbox from microsoft south africa actually, all the other consoles i get from import stores
