Lived666's advise is probably the best you'll get.
My (360 leaning) advise is this, look at the console which has the games you want to play, Sony has some classic franchises that hold a lot of weight for some, Microsoft has some lesser known but no less awesome titles, and has the online crown in it's favour as well. There's also the small matter of 3rd party consistency. For 7 showdowns in a row the 360 has won the Eurogamer vs comparisons. Having said that, things are starting to look up for the PS3, games like CoD4 look amazing on all platforms.
