Xbox 360 Issue

Just a thought, Have you tried sticking your friends "fixed" drive on your console?

I have this niggling memory that the system stores a copy on the drive.

No I haven't, he doesn't have one. It could be a possibility that it does, however all the other forums that I've found on google, getting a new drive didn't work.

An update on my situation:

Deductive reasoning has brought me to this (talking about the coming Nov update):

"While previous system updates have been stored on internal memory, this update will require 128mb of space on the HDD or memory stick."

I'm assuming the sudden router switch off caused the internal memory to become corrupted.

Possible ways to restore internal memory to factory settings?

press left, A and Y, and then use you "PAD" to navigate to the "Non-Responsive Task, then press the "end task" button.

That doesn't work.

Anyway, more updates, I tried downloading Gamertag from Xbox live, that also came out corrupted, however if I try to create a new one, it comes out perfectly. Strange innit.

dude. i'm sooo feeling your pain. i had a not at all similar, but still non responsive console a wee bit ago due to interrupted downloads. not fun at all. the x x bumper bumper thing sorted me out but it sounds like you got more problems than just a buggy download.

I've recently discovered through some more searches that the Marconi router is not on Micro****s list of "Xbox 360 safe" routers. Since my gamertag download was currupted, I figure the router corrupted the update to my 360 also.

I'm going try boot off my friends MU today, all I really need is to get to the dashboard and clear the cache.

I hope you come right dude. A pity it that external hardware could be the cause.

Should be alright, it shows up with all my achievements on the web fine, I think I must just try download it again, or will the same thing happen?

yes to everything, but have you pressed Y?

ROFl - sorry dude had to ask.

I bet you modified your xbox to play "backup" games - naughty naughty!

No I didn't flash the DVD drive, I didn't even have the chance to yet, my VIA card hasn't arrived yet.

Besides that, what does flashing the DVD drive have to do with this error? Absolutely nothing. Your point is moot my friend.

my point that you are naughty can't be moot cause you just admitted you are.
I didn't say anywhere that is the cause of the problem, just said I bet you modified your xbox to play copied games, and I was right.
No sympathy for piracy, I hope your xbox bursts into flames.

That's uncalled for dude!

A corrupt update is caused by a software problem or the onboard flash memory on the motherboard being faulty. Or it even could be the router that he uses that caused a problem.

His console won't be the first or the last that has an update problem.

There are so many variables in the bootstrap sequence of the Xbox 360, that one bad command somewhere makes the 360 throw a hissy fit.

Incorrect, I said I hadn't gotten around to it yet. That is why your point is moot.

Maestro, tonight I'm trying with a friends MU, I'll post here and see what goes on, hopefully it will boot to the dashboard, and from there I can clear the cache.

Either way this turns out, I hope this thread is a help for other people searching around, there's a lot of information lacking on this problem in other forums, and Microsoft has nothing at all.

I think we've made more headway than most.

just because you haven't got around to doing it yet, doesn't make it ok, so my point is still valid and you are a naughty dude, yes you are, yes you are (see I said it twice, makes it even truer)!

Let me elaborate, I meant your point was moot, because I had not flashed my disk drive, and even if I had, this issue had nothing to do with the DVD Drive at all (whatever your beliefs are about piracy).

Topic back on track please.

oooo, a bit touchy for a soon to be pirate, but fine, back on topic, did you press y?
