Hi guys

where is the cheapest place to buy a xbox 360 pro and arcade and which is the best value for one ie pro or arcade??

THanks

The arcade has no harddrive and is not backward compatible with PS2 games.
i would bloody well HOPE it isn't compatible with PS2 games :D

hehehehe, thanks man, i had a good chuckle. good start on the monday :)

NO technology difference, other than the Arcade being hard drive less.

The Arcade is cheaper because of this (R1999 RRP) whereas the Pro has a RRP of R2999.

The Pro is the better option as it comes with a 20GB HDD, Xbox Live Headset, MS ethernet cable & HD component cables in the box. You have to buy that as an extra for the Arcade.

The arcade comes with a memory card, AV cable and a bundled disc of Arcade games. NO ethernet cable, NO Live Headset, NO Hard drive.

It really depends how you play. If you never plan on going online the arcade is perfect. If you want to go online at some stage, even not right away, it's advisable to get a Pro. The Pro is better value for a vanilla purchase, for the R1000 difference you get the HDD, component cable and Headset, that's about R1500 worth of gear.

I haven't seen a lot of deals on the pro though, most are on the Arcade. The last I saw was Arcade+extra wired controller+ PGR4 at Incredible for R2k, which is quite compelling.

Incredible, Hi Fi Corp, Musica, CNA, just shop around although it's not exactly high shopping season so there aren't that many specials around.

I concur. If you have 3k lying around, buy a Pro.

Or buy it on account if your debts are ok :D

Wasn't the pro just updated to 60GB?

^^

Yes it was. US release only at this point.

We might see it on our shores next year. The 20GB units will have to clear out first :D

I'm still looking to buy one, made 2 trips to Canal walk, and all 6 shops that sell it were out of stock.

Capetonian! Isn't Canal Walk known now as Kanala Walk because of all the Muslims that frequent there

I grew up in the fairest Cape. Still regard it as home ...

take2.co.za not have stock? They're Cape Town based.

The Xbox 360 is a great console. Thats why I have 3  The 3rd one is for my new business though ...

In that case Alf, your best bet is to order through Kalahari.net, they almost always have stock and if so will deliver free within 24 hours. They're based at N1 city, so you can even collect if you're that eager.

Take2 is also Cape Town (Montague Gardens) so same story.

Bought plenty from Take2 and been looking at Kalahari.
I'm a bit hesitant to buy hardware online, as when there's an issue, u wait forever to get it resolved.

HiFi corp is a place I'll never buy from again.

yeah, i was considering going to Canal myself to scope things out... but stuff it, kalahari ships in 3 days (so they say, will call first) but take2 is out of stock :( will phone game as well just to be safe

if the 360 gives hassles, how do you handle the returns? do you have to post it all back to kalahari?

If it gives you hassles ... you ship it to me for repairs :D

Kalahari or whoever are the reailer, you go through them. I think you still call MS for a reference number and then the retailer should take it from there. You should be able to keep your HDD ... so keep your proof of purchase in a safe place :)

I love how people are joining the X360 family. Gr8 stuff !!!

Well the new ones shouldn't give issues, but never say never.

Dude, if you're in Cape Town just take a drive to their offices. Kalahari are by all the Car dealerships at N1 city. Take 2 are somewhere in Montague Gardens, by Milnerton.
