Can the xbox stream mkv files?
I am thinking about replacing my stolen ps3 with the xbox but if it cannot stream mkv files then there is no point.

Nope. Also forget about using the XBOX hard drive for copying movies to. Only reason to get an XBOX at this stage IMO, is because it has the better of the 2 controllers. PS3 controller is horrible compared to the XBOX.

Dont reply then, if its not answering the question don't respond, and in terms of the mkv streaming xbox 360 can, ill get the program that u install on your pc to do it, but xbox works well if its setup...iv got mine running via my windows 7 microsoft media centre and its awesome love it....and new xbox depending on model but the halo edition is r4000 and the normal 4gb version standard is about r2300 and the standard 250gb black is about r3300

Not true, he asked if it can stream mkv files, which is possible. You have to set it up accordingly with Windows Media Centre for example.

Soo? I was a halo fan since it came out, but I only got my first ever console +- 3months ago, and Reach will be the first Halo I've played xD.
+ Superior multiplats and Xbox LIVE.
Both console are lacking as a media center. Get a dedicated player, a good one is about R1100.

Transfer cable has to be imported in so yeh not sure if u willing to do that....or maybe ask on my bb who has one and meet up.....but yeh 14 days till halo xbox I see kalahari has said sold out on the pre-orders of the console....so guess there is a demand, the reach game is OK!!! Hoping online is better, but co-op story is fun...

Hoping online is better, but co-op story is fun...At the time of the first game on Xbox (2001), it was a big deal. It was considered one of the best FPS at the time, on any platform including PC. The PC version came about 2 years late, which doesn't help for a console game.
