I'm considering buying a new Xbox 360, but what are the different versions and technologies used?

I see different chipsets (Falcon, Jasper etc), Hitachi DVD drives, other make drives (some noisey, others quiet) , 65nm, 90nm chips etc etc

What I look for?

A pleasure. Except for manufacture date Oct or Nov 2008, my replacement box (Arcade, purchased a month ago) doesn't have any of the "other" Jasper indicators, but it does say 12.1 :D

If it says states 12.1...... grab it and run!!! :D

Was lucky myself. When BT Games had that special on the Halo Wars Edition of the Pro I had a look and the first one they brought me stated 12.1...... I just had to get it. :rolleyes:

The other indicators don't really have much bearing on us, especially the power plug going into the Xbox. We have a completely different looking connector.

I've never had one before, so I really can't compare it, but I don't have any complaints with this one. Don't hear the cooling or the DVD-rom over my gaming. Haven't specifically listened for it tho.

WOT! :eek::confused:

Dude you work with about a zillion xboxes ....surely you can hook yourself up with something L33t like an.....emm ...jasper :D

I'm a cheap b@st@rd when it comes to myself. If it aint broke ... don't fix it!

My 360 is closing in on 2 years old and its doing fine. Then again I do have a spare Elite, still in its box when I need a replacement ;)

@Luke ... erm ... I'm going to mail them tomorrow (supplier) as I haven't received a tracking number as of yet. Weird as I always get decent service from them :(

Went to the shops earlier ... wasn't 100% sure which was the Jasper because I couldn't see though the window to see voltage :/ Wasnt't going to take a chance ... so empy handed

I KNOW! It's a fsuking mission to check those things. I need to buy a arcade unit but it's a mission I tell you. The only one I could see thus far was a unit from CNA and it was 16!!!! even older than Falcon.

you can check from the lot numbers. Google it . Tells you exactly which lot number and higher are jaspers

I'm having problem finding one in Cape Town, will raid the malls again on Saturday. Just a pity it's so hard to see the rating.

currently jaspers and falcons are being sold together in the stores reason being is all the old stock of the falcon 360's need to be sold out first before all the stores will only sell jaspers
