is this worth it...or should i rather go for the ps3 slim??
 
Look at the games that are available for both consoles before you buy either. Also depends if WIFI, Bluetooth & Bluray are important to you.

Dont just look at what games are available, but also what game are still to come.
 
BTGames have some good bundles of the XBox 360 Elite.

It depends which controller you prefer and if you really going to use the extras.

There are some decent upcoming games, sure. But let's not turn this into a typical fanboy thread, there's plenty of those. There are some games in the 360 library that absolutely have to be played before this generation is over. And these can be had for a bargain now too. It all depends on what his criteria for games is - whether it's based on upcoming games, any good games in the current gen, or both. And off course whether he needs the other stuff - BR, wireless, large online community etc.
 
With the PS3 finally being priced reasonably it now comes down to which suits you better. Both have good games, but does one or the other have specific exclusive games you want to play? Do you anticipate needing to put in a bigger hard drive? Which controller do you prefer? Will you use blu-ray etc. in the near future?
 
this thread could cause some fanboism...but in the end of the day they are both great consoles.i dont have a PS3 but its pretty obvious its worth checking out.

i know the Elite seems to be Red Ring friendly but what about the ppl that got burnt before? This is where im thinking about giving the Sony a go.
The Xbox's controller is just awesome though if that helps at all and the game selection on both systems is great. You will get the usual fanbois screaming ' You dont get GOW of PS!!!' Gears of War forever..omg....!!!! And Xbox doesnt have God of War!!! omgosh lolz... silly fanbois.

You should be happy with either....im sure i will be
 
I had an Elite RROD on me. That was a Zephyr model though.

Exactly. A good game for one person, isn't always good for another. I hate GOW. Don't know why people are going on about it.

Gameplay is still king :) I sometimes find myself playing Xbox Live Arcade games more than the games I've actually purchased. Even something as simplistic as N+ is insanely addictive.

I agree. One of the most fun games I've played in a while was the latest Prince of Persia. Fantastic gameplay, but not the best graphics.
