Xbox Jaspers in SA?

Are these units available here? I'm looking at these new 60GB Pro bundles with Burnout Paradise. I haven't been to the shops yet to check it out but I wonder if these units are Jasper or still the old Falcons.
 
Yip - seems (from what I read on teamxbox forum) that most arcades made since around Oct 2008 will be Jaspers. From what I can gather the only way to see if it is a Jasper is that it has a 12.1A rating on the back.
Anyone got a linky for a better way to see what generation Xbox you have? (I just had mine replaced yesterday - so went from a 2006 manufacture date to a Oct 2008 one - plus HDMI weeeee!)
 
Yup - Jaspers are in. A colleague of mine bought that Halo special that BT had running a few weeks ago and he confirmed that the console is a Jasper.
 
I'm selling a new 60GB Pro with a warranty that is the Jasper revision. Manufactured March 2009 :D

The 12.1 way is the only way to be sure. Mine doesn't conform to any of the other "maybe" ways. I think it's also visible without taking the xbox out of the box.


Yuri, you shouldn't be online...you should be chasing my 120GB :D
 
Is the Xbox scene dying in SA?

VGA HD Cables seems to be mostly unavailable everywhere, Mi Digital still hasn't brought separate HDD's to SA, games selection is weak and the pricing for the stuff in madness.
 
IMO the xbox is getting stonger at user level, but at supplier level they're not keeping up with demand, hence the lack of accessories. I won't say games selection is weak either. Pricing ....agreed, I just wait for it to go 2nd hand. They days of "must have *now*" is over for me

What about the lack of accessories? (HDD, etc) ..It's been like this for months now. Wonder if we're even going to get HDD's

That's the fault of our wonderful supplier(s), seems they don't care. But HDDs can be sourced without their help.....maestro_za, to name one, can help you out. so can any of the other accessories

At JHB international Airport they were selling the Elite (Resident Evil package) for R3300. I was there last week (29/04)

(I already have two xbox's, so I bought a PSP instead)

It's still cheaper than buying an Arcade console and adding on the hard drive. You could always sell the free games.:D

I have a Pro in my living room where I mainly game and the other (Arcade) is used upstairs in my bedroom as a Media Center Extender :p .

I bought the Arcade when my Pro RoDD and it was still R1800 and then sold the controller for R400, since I had two controllers already. I thought MID may take weeks to replace the Pro and I was on December vacation. Turns out they replaced it within a week, but I had already bought the Arcade. Nevertheless. I'm glad I did, before it I had to use remote blasters, but that never worked properly.

Not that much (unless you really want the cheap games included)

The Arcade is R2499 (Take2)
and the HDD is R1250 (Take2)

which comes to R3749 where the pro is usually (expect for Game special) R3799 and the HDD comes with Headset and 3 months Live. Plus then you don't have the crappy looking chrome dvd cover but I guess it's all personal opinion.
