Xbox live gold/game pass ultimate conversion error

Hi all, I'm having trouble getting game pass ultimate with the live gold conversion trick.

For background, I previously had game pass ultimate which expired today.
I bought 3 x 12 months Xbox live gold on egifts24 and redeemed them. I believe the codes they provided are for a different region which I think is US.

When I try to purchase GP ultimate on the xbox ZA store, I get an error saying I already have an active subscription from a different region. When I try purchasing from the US store, it says my payment method doesn't match the region I'm purchasing from (presumably they verified it against my credit card). Any advice or suggestions?

I've tried to migrate my account regiom to SA - could not be completed at this time.
I've contacted xbox support in web chat and they basically said wait 24 hours and try again.

You normally have to wait 24 hours after expire just to make sure its expired anyway for the trick to work.

If you bought Gold for the wrong region you are frest out of luck. (Conversion will not work)

When does your Gold Live expire?

Xbox support sorted me out the last time I had region issues. Took them a while, but ultimately they knew the best.

Just bought 36 months today so in 3 years..

Well I would expect it be from a local region since I bought it from a local site.

The codes we issue are only for South Africa and can only be used on a South African Xbox account. It sounds like your previous membership may have been in a different region and hasn't fully expired yet? As Xbox Support suggested, it would be recommended to wait the additional 24 hours to see if that resolves it. If not, you may need to request Xbox Support to investigate on your account and see if migration is required.

Thanks for your reply. My previous membership was definitely in SA region and was definitely expired. I even tried launching games and it said I need to resubscribe to game pass first. I'll wait the 24 hours and take it from there.

Not sure why the region changed after redeeming those codes. If you like it I can PM you the codes I used and you can check them out.
 
I've managed to resolve the issue, updating here in case anyone gets the same issue in future.

I ended up connecting with an Xbox specialist via Xbox support live chat on their website. She confirmed to me that the Xbox Live Gold subscription I purchased on eGifts24 was for US region. She was able to transfer it to the SA region (technically, she had to cancel it and then reinstate it) and I was then able to purchase Game Pass Ultimate. The conversion kicked in as usual.

That's very odd. I did double check the codes being issued and they are correctly labeled "ZA" in the server response from Xbox (see image below), so it's not clear how Xbox Support saw another region. Technically it's not possible for us to issue codes for another region since we go through the official distributor for South Africa and the product setup is strictly ZA only. We also haven't received any other reports of anyone having issues, but will touch base with the distributor to see if they're aware of anything. Sorry to hear about the runaround, but glad to hear Xbox Support was able to resolve regardless.

Yeah it does seem odd as I always buy my codes from you Both PS+ & Wallet and Xbox, even Netflix and have yet to see "Wrong region"

AFAIK all the guides for the Gold to Ultimate conversion explicitly state that you need to buy for your region.
