XBOX live officially in SA ?

Hey guys does anyone know when xbox live is is going to be officialy in SA
and also when the prices are going to be in rands:confused:
 
Unfortunately it's a bit of a bun fight at the moment, they've promised we are getting it, it was supposed to come around August, but it looks like they were too busy with India. The problem is that it's not up to the locals, it's up to the Live team in the US.

Having said that it's still pretty easy to get up and running on Live. You can buy points cards locally from Take2.co.za, or if you want to save a few bucks you can get cards etc off ebay, or other online retailers.
 
With this locally, will we have local servers and thereefore less lag on not-so-cool connections? :/

I already struggle with HSDPA ... people overseas won't let me play :(
 
XBox games generally don't use dedicated servers. So you should try play with locals. Easy enough to do. Just get your friends list populated.

nothing will change accept we might get faster market place downloads, if you playing against international then there will always be some sort of lag

It would be awesome to get a local marketplace server but don't expect that even when we do get official live.
Dolby, HSDPA will never be good enough to play games over, the latency is to high. This has nothing to do with Xbox Live though.. you are going to need ADSL...

Hopefully some more news will come out today about Live though, cross fingers :D

didnt microsoft sat we are going to get it at the end of the year
