Xbox Live region change

Hi

I'm currently registered with a USA account but want to switch to SA, because of the fact that there's rumors going around that MS is going to scrap MS-points and all transactions will be billed directly to the credit card. Now I have tried several times to do this with my SA card, but it doesn't seem to work. I'm guessing it has something to do with the different regions. :wtf:

I've seen on my billing info that the region is grayed out and can't be changed. I read somewhere on a forum that you can create a new Live ID, with SA as region, and transfer the gamertag to that account. Yesterday I did this only to find that nothing has changed and I'm still a American gamer. So I'm assuming the region is linked directly to the gamertag and it doesn't matter where the Live ID is registered.

So my question: Is there ANY way to change the region on my gamertag? Has anyone been able to do this sort of thing after the transfer period ended?

I really don't want to start a new gamertag and lose the achievements already unlocked.
