Microsoft did reply to that a long time ago.

The current official response is that Microsoft SA are pushing to get Live locally but America is not biting... They want more people to have access to the Internet locally before they will offer it.

We have bought more than enough consoles now and the retail ability of SA is easily good enoguh for Live... we can place the blame squarely on Telkoms shoulders for our lack of Live

Just keep spamming Major Nelson, Acey Bongos, just keep making noise.

Looking at VGChartz, "other regions" counts for something like 12000 360 sales a month, almost twice the PS3 sales in the same region. That "region" consists of countries like South Africa, Indian and the Middle East. The later two were the last two to receive Live...

Anyway, if you need Live in the mean time you can get it easily from here, I do.

Does Microsoft SA actually contribute anything other than offer a mirrored face of the company?

I have to stick up for them here, they do try to do a lot in regards to Xbox 360 in South Africa but unfortunately they are ham strung by the US branch.

Most of what they do is behind the scenes but think about how strong a brand Xbox has become in SA and you will then start to see what they put most of their effort into.

***Revive*** Any Updates? Maybe When The Submarine Telecom Cables Are Up And Running And The Prices Drop We Will Get It?

I doubt , that telkom will drop their prices, perhaps once the new share holders buy over Telkom, perhaps we will see price change, depends.
You'll have to depart over to Neotel, once they offer DSL for residential/Consumers.

We will get live.

Hopefully before the world cup, but I'm not holding my breathe. :p

EDIT: Anyway, who cares, it'll always be cheaper online anyway. Subs are worldwide, you can pay as little as R27 a month.

Microsoft's uninvolved in XBox Live SA = Im uninvolved in buying original 360 games.
