Xbox One Data Requirements

Can one schedule updates on xbone & ps4? If possible she should just leave the console on at night so it downloads during the nightsurfer period. If not let your pc or router do the scheduling.

Ideally you need uncapped.

Nope, no scheduling. Which is a load of schit that it's not available. It is a highly requested feature for the xb1

This is why I got a cheap uncapped account that runs full tilt between 6pm and 6am. I set my router to switch off Wi-Fi for 6 minutes after 6am which in turn stops the Xbox from downloading. If you untick "auto download games and updates" in the instant-on Power setting menu then the Xbox won't resume the download when the Wi-Fi comes back on.

Hi guys and gals

Can anyone please tell me where to go to see how much data I would require for an initial disc install.

I don't mean the "hard drive" space required, I'm referring to "download data" as in u need to "download this before you can play the game".

E.g. Rise of the Tomb Raider, put disc in and required an "internet download" of 1.1Gigs

Forza 6, put disc in and required a download of 3.something Gigs of internet data

I can't find it anywhere on the Internet, all I find is the "game size", which isnt what i want. I'd like to know the "disc installation download size" BEFORE purchasing xbox one games, as I don't have unlimited data (sorry I don't know how else to word it).

Any suggestions/help will be highly appreciated.

PS I'm not a techie so I'm not sure how else to type in my Google searches. I've tried wording the search every way I can think of. I've tried the xbox and IGN websites too. But found nothing.

unfortunately this issue was raised a million times with Microsoft and it wont ever be answered.

the reason varies, but basically it differs because new updates patches and varies tweaks gets released sometimes weekly and will download if there is a active connection.

just yesterday GTA V downloaded another 2Gb

Not sure about XO, but on PS4 you can only pause/resume.

When it asks about the update, you can cancel it but it means usually that you won't log onto Xbox Live.

Some games will refuse to work without the update *looks at NFS* but some will.

nope unfortunately you can only pause/resume and most games will not run without the update.

sucks really and its been raised so many times and is one of the highest requested features on xbox one.

;)
I just cancelled the update for TR and was able to play single player offline.

Awww, I didn't know this. Having just bought the X1, I didn't know how it worked, so diligently d/l what they said to, when they said to :p But thanks I'll try that in the next game ;)

Playing offline means disconnecting from the internet, but you are saying that TR needs to you to be connected to the internet. Are you sure that it doesn't just need you to be signed in, rather than signed in and connected to the internet. Never tried it myself, but as far as I know, there's no longer a requirement to be connected to the internet to play disc based games.

Sorry, yes it needs me to be "signed in" to my profile before I can go any further. I took that to mean "play online".

Or get a friend who you can download it for you and you can copy it from them.

Good idea, thanks. I was wondering about this. Just a quickie, are you referring to the "day one game update/patch" thingie? But what is it I'd be asking him to d/l and where would we find it. Torrenting sites? Forgive me but I'm not too au fit with this stuff. I can ask my IT fella at work. I just need to know where to go or what I'm searching for please?
