I jus registered on xbox.com and created an xbox360 account.

I used a South African Address.

Please test it.

My gamertag is ZA Ramsamy

I am currently on the 1 month gold free option and am thinking of upgrading.

Just thought I sjhould let ervyone know.
 
Thanks. Maybe one day when Telkom decides to install the ADSL line I can actually make use of this...
Anyone know what it's gonna cost?
 
I also used a South African address to register my XBL account.

The cost will probably be very close to what it costs now converted to Rands from Dollars or GBP
 
Firstly I think that this is the setup because there would be a big promo campaign when its fully rolled out. So my thinking is that for now you will connect to the international servers for downloads but when its officially announced than there will be local servers as its more cheaper to distributee content with local bandwidth than international.

Also I think we should start a petition for mkv support.

Using axxess lite with no problems. Dont expect your uncapped mweb shaped to work, thats jus dumb me thinks.

lol referring to Mavix complaint. I'm getting tired of people flaming adsl in SA. get over it this is what we got jus use it. Getting a bit off topidc.

They dont allow purchasing of MS points yet, I e-mailed support should get a response about that. I also asked if we could load Uk points onto our SA accounts in the interim.

What I have now is dial-up.... But apparently all the ports in my area have been used up, no idea what that's supposed to mean.
 
Mavix means telkom won't install a larger adsl circuit fro your area. Just keep phoning them.

Anyhow got a reply to my e-mail (Pretty quick to):

They just enabled site registration. You can't buy or retrieve the gammertag as yet. They will officially lauch in the next month or so (no specific date). This is them just setting everything up and testing it. They will not allow tranfer of "illegally" registered gamertags.
 
Were we ever blocked from registering on Xbox.com with SA info? You just get a non-Xbox LIVE layout when signing up from a non-Xbox LIVE country.

I can watch mkv, I do it through WMC on win 7, you just need to install a codec and a .reg file in windows and then you get it on your xbox, I've also got youtube working nicely on the xbox...

According to a spokesman of Microsoft at E3 account migration will be allowed.

We know. But dedicated support right from the console will be ten times better. No more relying on a PC to watching something on the console. I like to use one without needing the other, else I might as well just hook up my PC to the TV.

The problem with MKV is they are normally big files (so that they keep all the quality, otherwise I don't see the point) and any HDD or Flash frive you attach to the xbox is fat 32 which doesn't allow for a single file that big, and if you go through the trouble to split it, you still need the PC and lots of time, same problem the PS3 has AFAIK

I have always wondered why a Microsoft product does not support NTFS. I am not a techno wiz or anything, but how the hell are we storing 7gig games on our HDDs but on a flash we cant exceed the limits of FAT?

Agreed, That's what I'm talking about. the first console that offers mkv support will probably win the war (for this generation anyway).

Ok, When you stream HD content to the Xbox 360 or PS3 the content gets compressed so what you see on the screen is not true HD. (You can confirm online).
MKV files that are HD encoded are very small with HD movies being approximately 2 to 3 GB in size.

Also like most people I have most of my movie and anime and series collection in mkv. MKV is such a good format divx now afficially supports it. Try mini-theatre.org and hdarena (google it) to get some good HD mkv content.
 
That "illegal" comments rubs me the wrong way....they did mentoin they'd allow for migration.
How's it illegal if we pay for it? :)
