The PS3 controller feels cheap and "plasticky" to me. Yeah it IS plastic but you know what I mean. The xbox controller felt much more solid.
 
OK well, all this being said, where would be this best place to buy a PS3 or Xbox? I looked at Incredible Connection and it seems they are selling a PS3 + GT5 for about R3900. Is that a fair price or is it a ripp-off?

That's pretty standard. The slim used to sell for R3700 on its own without games.

R3900 is too much. Seen that for as low as R3700. I got mine on BoB for R3100. 320gb with two games. Not sure if you're the auction type.

Bid Or Buy = mostly 2nd hand, so not quite comparable.

All I'll need extra is another controller and maybe Borderlands :p


The reason I am favouring the PS3 atm is because as far as I can see, Microsoft has somehow replaced their Blue Screen of Death with a Red Ring/Dot of Death. So it seems that the PS3 is more reliable. Now I suppose that statement is up for discussion amongst fanboys etc etc. I like the Xbox's controllers (I've played with them before, never with the PS3's).

I also see in all the reviews that the online stores, servers and graphics play a big roll in the way people swing. However, as stated before I am not a gaming junkie - just a guy that needs another source of entertainment :) I can't see me ever going online with this thing (not in the near future any way. I have a 3G connection) and if the anti-aliasing is not 100% there won't be any tears (unlike a friend of mine for whom graphics is be all and end all). So yes, the PS3 seems to be winning here for me.

Good luck finding difference in graphics between the two. The RROD was very common in the older console PSU models, but it's gone down significantly - but yeah, it is a concern hey.

for what it's worth, i have 2 xboxes (old elites: 4years old, 2years old) and one ps3 slim (14months old). guess which one i used the least and broke right after the warranty expired? the PS3. now the same situation could be reversed for someone else - ie RROD galore, but dont let anyone scare you off of an xbox. ps3s break easily as well.
but hey, stop debating and just go get a console - i'm looking forward to infamous2, so if i were in your position at the moment, i'd get a ps3.

but does it allow you to game online? And can you play every game that is released?

I'm asking cause I don't know. I know the xbox 360 can, I have my xbox 360 for 1 year now. not banned nor flagged. If you follow some simply rules [well actually logic] you will have xbox live a long time. Even if you get banned then your console is still good for single player.

The old PS3s were pretty unreliable. Almost as bad as the 360. However the news slims I have heard are very reliable.
 
So I got the PS3 yesterday. Got it was bundled with 2x controllers, God Of War 3 and Dirt 3 (bought Grand Turismo 5 separate). Played GT5 most of the time...that game is AWESOME! Played some GOW3 but didn't like it too much. Will give it another try though...

So all in all: PS3 = Huge smile on my stupid face :D

No longer and issue on the new XBox 360 Slim.
MS have done a total redesign of the system, new circuitry, 45nm instead of 90nm fab, new case and new cooling system.
The Slim runs much quieter and cooler than the previous generation.

Congrats! Now do yourself a favour and play the Uncharted games. In my opinion the best games series ever made.

How are you finding the controller?

The controller seems fine. In fact, my hands do not get sore after a couple hours of playing :D
Now I just need to find an excuse to stay home (like, get sick or fake a family death) so I can play!!!
