Today we're proud to announce that Firaxis Games is developing XCOM: Enemy Unknown, an action strategy game releasing this fall. Long-time X-COM fans will instantly recognize XCOM: Enemy Unknown's gameplay, which has both deep strategic elements and turn-based tactical combat. You are put in control of a secret paramilitary organization known as XCOM, and as commander, defend against a terrifying global invasion of aliens. Success hinges on resource management, technology advancements, and perhaps most importantly securing victories with superior combat tactics.

I hope they keep it exactly as the original, but just better graphics and just 'more fun' because the game itself was just amazing!
 
Like Jagged Alliance: Back in Action is a remake of Jagged Alliance 2.... and it was done very good.
Hope this is a good remake as well.

I will CRY LIKE A BABY if they mess this up... because if they do this well, I'll buy it and if they do TERROR FROM THE DEEP then I'll buy that too... FACT! No 2 ways! :D

It was not redone, this is a FPS game that was a top-down hex tactical time-based game. There is another XCOM game being worked on at the moment that is a heck of a lot closer to the original than this game. I might still try this, but I am looking forward more to the other one.

You're thinking of the non-subtitld XCOM game that has been delayed to next year, being developed by 2K Marin. The one mentioned in this thread is exactly the one you're looking forward to, being developed my Firaxis. There are some articles on RockPaperShotgun about XCOM Enemy Unknown which are pretty assuring.

I did not care for what they did with Jagged Alliance BIA. They removed a lot of the good stuff and left in a lot of the bad stuff.
