I'm still in love with my Mix 4. This phone looks awesome. I'm just not the biggest fan of their software.

Which sucks since the software is such an integral part of the entire package*.

*I know alternative OS'es exist, but they are sometimes a compromise in certain ways and compatibility with the hardware which is to be expected.

My reasons are because of the update that ruined my Mi Box, and subsequently reading about similar issues on other phones and devices, implying it's a common Xiaomi thing.

I'm using XIAOMI.EU ROM on my phone, and there are many niggles all the time, but the devs blame the original firmware it's based on or Google.

So don't take my reasons as a reason not to go with Xiaomi.

It really is a pity as their hardware is generally quite good.

I love their products as well (I have a few kicking around at home - Robo vacuum, camera, a smart speaker, and my wife has a Redmi 9T) and when I still had lots of spare time, I curated the official Xiaomi thread for a bit so I am definitely a big fan - but unfortunately, I feel their range has become very segmented lately and the lack of attention to detail is showing in how their software and updates are handled.

The EU ROM is just the Xiaomi ROM with the bloat and ads removed.
Its worth trying one of the true custom ones if your phone has official support from one of the bigger ones.

I'm happy with the current one I'm using, but the performance differences between the versions are very noticeable. The previous stable version ruined battery life, this one resolved it. So if it's based on the official ROM, it does make me wonder.

The 14 Ultra was announced today. Any info on the specs yet?

These camera bumps are getting out of hand.
