Xiaomi launches transparent OLED TV

Xiaomi has unveiled the world’s first mass-produced transparent OLED TV – the Mi TV LUX Transparent Edition.

The launch comes as part of the company’s 10th anniversary celebrations, which also saw it launch several new smartphones.

The Mi TV LUX Transparent Edition features a 5.7mm-thin 55-inch OLED panel that mimics a plain piece of glass when switched off.
 
Anybody looking to spend $7000 on a useless gimmick with terrible image quality? No takers? Pity.

It would be pretty useless to replace a normal TV.

However, I think it could be quite nifty in retail. For example, you could put one right next to the glass in a shop window and it wouldn't block whatever you want to display.

edit: LG has a similar product that is pretty much for retail.

My initial impression was that this is truly groundbreaking. But then I looked up videos of it in action and even when used as a TV, it remains transparent. Wtf is the point of even launching this product as a consumer device?
 
Very cool, but I don't see the point in it when you're just going to put it next to a wall
 
This company does not fail to impress me. I have the MiBox and a Redmi 9S and will continue to buy as many of their products as I can. Next is the vacuum robot.
