I think this is exactly how a flagship killer should look like. I love the simplistic design of the phone, the glass back isn't too nice in my opinion as it makes it a lot more fragile and fingerprint prone.

It's just over R4700 for the base model that comes with 32 gigs internal storage and 3 gigs of ram! The pricing of Xiaomi phones is incredible for what you're getting. Although the base model has slightly lower clocks on both the CPU and GPU, I think it's still a helluva lot of value for money.

The camera looks absolutely stunning with the OIS they've implemented, there's very little shake in it.

I'm looking forward to hopefully seeing this phone locally within the next couple of months.

Ok, so I signed up on the MIA (mobile in africa) site and they finally gave some more details on the Mi 5.

It will only be available in the 32GB, 3GB RAM variant.... and it shall be White :erm:.
Are they nuts?

R7999 is a pretty good price.
I recently got mine in China for RMB2850 so R7125.

In SA, we only get the white 32GB/3GB version for R7999. (SD820 Clocked at 2.0GHz)

Would be interesting if this is the same one which costs R7125 in China.

Can order online now, cash purchases of R7999...

Or VC Uchoose Flexi 150 with 5GB Data for R399/month *24 = R9576 total, not bad.

Isn't the 32GB version at 1.8Ghz for the higher power cores and 1.5 Ghz for the lower?

Yes you're right. From gsmarena:
Standard 1.8GHz+1.36GHz
Pro 2.15GHz+1.6GHz.

If you do get confirmation on the data bundle, let me know.
On their Facebook page, they just say, contact Vodacom.

Has anyone seen the phone on contract at Incredible, Dion Wired or Makro? When I contacted my local branches, none of them knew about it.
