Sweet! I just checked and mine is available as well. Busy downloading...

Maybe my ethernet adapter will finally be recognized...

Updated to Oreo. OTA update was nice and quick. It found my ethernet adapter! Digging the new interface.

Also found the update on mine and loaded Oreo. Loved the old interface a bit more (I'm not really a person for change) but I suppose it will grow on me in time

One question I have, is there a way to install Google Chrome or is it included already? I can't seem to find / access it. Also, can one load extensions on the browser then itself, or not?

AFAIK puffin browser works well

Is there a youtube version without ads one can install on the mi box?

No

And I can't get a decent ad blocker to work properly

Darn. I usually dont mind ads but in this particular instance I just want a playlist to play without any interaction in the background. As for blocking ads completely I don't think one can as I hear youtube now feeds ads using the same stream they feed the audio/video so no easy way to block them without blocking the whole video from playing.

Update: Think I found something. Smart Youtube. Haven't seen any adverts yet - available on aptoide store.

Mine stopped working - ( Smart YouTube ) uninstalled, and never got around to getting a new version.

works fine on my end - spotted a small issue whereby the mi box goes on standby or rather the screensaver comes on during playback and so the video stops but i think that can be remedied by not having the screensaver come on - just a temporary solution.

I must say the Oreo update is a HUGE improvement, especially on the WiFi side of things. No connection issues, good throughput and overall it seems to be a much more stable build

I just got a Mi Box and had the Oreo update done yesterday.

Then tried to install DSTV Now app. Before logging in it asks me to go " now.dstv.com/tv" and enter a code.

Do I do this on the device itself?

And which browser do you use? I cant find Chrome in the App Store. I saw mention of using Puffin Browser in this thread.....

You have to do it from another device

As mentioned above, Smart Youtube TV doesn't have any ads.

For those that may have issues with it working,
clear the data and uninstall the app. Then make sure to install the latest version, which as of now is: 6.14.84

Link it with your YT account, and you're all set.

Not strange at all.
Mine only worked after the update.

What's strange is that you don't have an update option for your box?
Well I manually updated my box to 8.0 the exact same day the others got their OTA's. Maybe murphy caught me....
