Xiaomi Mi Box / Mi Box S [Android TV OS]

I've decided to keep my box on 24Hz, it obviously makes the GUI look sluggish but I don't really care and I'll just manually set it to 60Hz the once in a blue moon I want to watch something like Twitch.

Hi All .. i am having endless issues with the remote disconnecting .. wondering if i have missed anything ....
when the remote disconnects .... i lost the ability to use the physical remote and the android tv app on my phone at the same time....

- ive tried , disconnecting everything batteries , cables etc and leaving it off overnight and then connecting everything..
i manually plug a mouse in and unpair the xiaomi remote .. and repeat the reboot everything process with the remote close as they dictate (20cm or less)
.. ive even factory reset the device and it makes no difference....

but then magically it starts working again ... ( usually) .. but there is no logic to here.. so is it perhaps Bluetooth or some interference/ bug ?

What Android TV app? If you are consistently having issues then maybe your problem is more hardware related perhaps?

Thought my two boxes were bad, yours sounds worse.

Worst I've had is wall plug reset + battery pull... That's bad enough... Once I do that I'm prompted to hold back and home within 20cm etc.

Hopefully it's not a hardware issue and it can be fixed in a future software update.

Anyone with the new mibox s having the same issue?

I’m also having remote disconnect issues, and then you can’t turn on the device after it gets switched off with the tv.
What I notice is that the remote gets sluggish and then it connects and disconnects every few seconds, you can see it on the pairing screen.
I unpair and pair and then it’s fine again for a some time.

Had the same issues of the remote disconnecting and then sometimes just failing. Replacing the batteries helped sometimes but then it just stopped working. I opened up the remote completely. Unscrewed the circuit board also. Thought there might be liquid damage inside or something loose. Bended the battery connectors a bit inwards and put it back together. Working 100% again. Not sure if I was just lucky, but the remote has been working since then.

How long since you've done this?

I had the exact issue with a random Chinese HDMI switch, which permanently fixed my issue. In that case it was obvious once open as the connectors were barely making contact.

However I'd be surprised if this is the problem with the mibox, as surely it would have been identified after probably selling millions of units worldwide

Could be that the remote has been dropped a few times too many. Batteries are heavy.

I have my mibox remote in a tuff love silicone cover .. as i saw it being dropped by the kids .. and the voice recognition does not work at all ...
i suspect it was probably dropped at some stage by "somebody" ..

Finally got round to installing mine on Saturday. What a pleasure. It asked if I wanted to use my phone to do it and it was all auto set up for me. My wifi details, passwords, netflix profile, youtube profile, everything just got copied from my phone. Quality is amazing and even though I have it in an area of the house where I struggle for signal it streams HD perfectly. So far an amazing experience!

..
Same with mine. I would consider buying another but cant get a price on one locally. Contacted MIA Africa several times via email and their website but no response.

Just strange because on a 50/50 fibre line it should not be an issue, unless it affects the app otherwise. Will double check tonight....

This has been said many times before. If your DSTV now buffers its almost always their servers that are shitting their pants during high load. During that time go check out Youtube or Netflix if you have it and they will both be fine.

HI Guys

Just got this device over the weekend. Figured it out fine but on the DSTV now app only some content loads for live tv, where on my phone all live tv channels load. Any recommendations?

Make sure you are looking at all channels and not the recommended.

Suppose this was discussed but 3000 posts is hectic to search.

My Mi Box is kak with wifi. Says connected but no internet available. Then it connects, then off. All updates was done. Pull the AC cable, restart, reset. Then all of a sudden it works 100%....for an hour or so then again, No wifi.
Had my laptop next to the Mi Box and it had no issues with wifi.
