Xiaomi MI Max reviews

I know there are a lot of threads discussing the various Xiaomi phones and how generally epic they are. I couldn't find one about the Mi Max in particular. So I'm hoping to source reviews from people who actually own one.

What's it like? Is it too big? Do you look like a massive dork making calls on it? Has it split in half when you accidentally left it in your pocket and sat down (like the Mi 5)? Could you find cases and covers for it locally?

I'm itching to get one. It seems like so much phone for the money. Currently have a Huawei Mate 8. Thinking of giving that to the SO and replacing it with this one. Digging the dual-SIM idea as well. And the ridiculous battery life.

I bought one about two months ago. I am very happy with the phone, the battery life is simply epic. I can go a whole weekend without charging on moderate use. I found a cover on takealot but you will most likely have to import one. The build quality is decent and I have not managed to split it into two yet, you however will have to get a cover. It felt huge at first but after about two weeks I got completely use to it and now I'm not sure if I will ever be able to manage with a smaller phone again. For the price this phone is unbeatable.

I got the clear plastic case, would have preferred to get something more robust, although that would make the phone even bigger.

Yeah, I don't think you can go much bigger than it already is!

What phone were you coming from when you got the Mi Max?

I came from a Samsung s6, hence why I so desperately went for a phone with great battery life haha!

Used one for a while and not a bad phone. Battery life was very very good although it took long to recharge, camera could have been better. Using the bigger brother mi mix now for couple days and very happy with it.

I guess the slow charging is compensated by the fact that you don't need to charge it very often?

MI Mix looks amazing. Pricey though. And not available locally.

Did you get yours from Takealot? What all came in the box? Screen protector? Cover?

Nope bought mine directly from MI Africa, they delivered same day and got it with back cover and glass screen guard.

Nope the one from MI was a proper soft cover that cover whole phone.
