Quick update: loving it so far. That's a whole lot of phone for the money.

Seems you can't stop it vibrating when unlocking with a fingerprint?

Feels a lot more premium than I expected.

It is big, though. Goodness

Now I need a cover and a screen protector ASAP

Further update: screen protector on its way from Takealot (haven't wanted to use it too much until it's covered).

Charged it last night and it only went to 99%. Does anyone else have this? Googling seems to suggest this might just be a glitch in EMUI?

It is not too bad. But 150 bucks is a lot to pay for a plastic screen protector which doesn't actually fit. Better than nothing though.

Yay I got my phone and it's amazing! It's a shame that I have to do some work now. Will play with the phone later.

And definitely don't buy the screen protector from Takealot. I'll keep mine as a backup but it really is too small and will bug the hell out of me. I'll buy a new one plus a nice cover.

Not sure yet. In the other Mi Max thread (how many are there?) someone posted some other cases and things. I'll do some research over the weekend.
