Ordered my phone on Saturday, just phoned Incredible Connection Sandton, Fedex guy had just pitched up in their shop, she very kindly added it to tomorrow's delivery run :)

Let's see what happens... website has been updated to "ready to ship".

Phone has arrived! :)

(Luckily Fedex visits the airport on a daily basis anyway)

Bought a hardcover and glass screen protector from geekbuying last week, the phone will be here before that, but all in all, with registered mail, was R154. Will let you guys know how long it took. Was shipped early on Monday morning.

I also ordered from Geekbuying and paid with my credit card. Now they are requesting a picture of both sides of my credit card and my ID.
Is this normal?

Absolutely not normal. Also bought my screen protector from them (shipped yesterday) and didn't have any issues.
You can never send photos of your credit card to anyone

Anyone going to attempt to root this phone?
Possibly unlock the boot loader and try different roms?

Depending on the account, if it seems suspicious. The sellers might ask you this to protect themselves from Credit card Chargeback fraud.

I sold some stuff on ebay and lost quite a bit because of this. If I asked the buyers for their ID and card, than when they created a unauthorised expense chargeback case dispute, I could have used this to win the case easily.

Design flaw on the hardshell from TakeAlot, charging point on the phone isn't aligned with the hole on the case. Connector keeps popping off the phone.

I tried this week and messed it up horribly. Could only get into fastboot for 2 days. Finally got it sorted and am currently running the Dev MIUI 8 Global / Android 6.01 ROM. Going to give it another go this weekend because I really want CyanogenMod on it and think I know where I went wrong. Having said that, this ROM is actually really nice too.

Anyone else completely blown away by the battery life of this phone? My S5 never made it to supper without at least a top up. After 2 work days I had 40% battery left when I got home today. I actually can't believe it. Standby draw is next to nothing and I know the phone is aggressive with background apps (dropbox camera upload only pushes up photo's after you open the app) but it has not ruined the experience at all.

Love it!

Loving it. The RAM management is also not too aggressive. I tried to open all my apps and it kept available RAM at about 350~400mb available.

I actually quite like the "security" app as well and that everything is located at a central point.

I actually really like MIUI. It offers enough customisation and it looks better than CM in my opinion. It also manages RAM and the battery pretty well.

I usually rooted my Samsung to allow me to remove bloatware but I haven't felt the need yet. I'd look into it if the need arises but I'll just root MIUI and not take another ROM.

The battery is the biggest draw factor of this device. I am rally impressed by it. I was also concerned about the fact that it only has 2gb RAM but it seems to manage it perfectly
ARGH, already orderer one. Awaiting delivery.
I also ordered one and then tried to cancel my order again before it left the warehouse. The response from Takealot was that it's already packed for shipping but I can just return it unopened and they'll even carry the courier costs. I'm sorry to have to return it but if it's not for my phone there's no use in taking the R200 hit if I don't have to. Mine gets delivered today but I'm immediately going to schedule a return

Thanks Pakka. I told them that I am not comfortable to send them the pics. Lets see what happens now.

Not impressed with geekbuying so far - 4 days since I ordered and order is still processing. So chances of getting it in 6-7 days are zero....

The battery life is brilliant. It must be the best phone I've ever had in that regard... It does take a long time to charge though.

Yeah, last night it took well over an hour to take the phone from 40-100% but I can live with that considering I now only charge every second day. Apparently Xiaomi has not paid for Snapdragon licence fees for the quickcharge facility on the chip - hence slower charging.

Another difference: I have used my Romoss battery pack to charge the phone next to my bed twice now. When I wake up in the AM, the ROMOSS has turned itself off and the phone is just off 100%. I knew that the Romoss had auto off, but I had never seen it happen with my S5 - the drain from the S5 was so quick, that the Romoss never got a zero draw reading to shutdown and kept topping up the S5 all through the night.
