The Mediatek came out first in China.

Because of patent issues regarding Mediatek in India, they designed a snapdragon 650 one which benchmarked very well. The one for india is the one made available here.

I got my mom the Red Mi 3 note last year Dec when it first came out in China, it wasnt a Global variant (WCDMA & TD-CDMA & LTE) and the 2nd sim doesnt take TF cards. It came with the Mediatek octacore X10 and I was pretty impressed with how smooth it is...my mom is still using it and loves it.

3 months later the Global variant came out which uses the Snapdragon 650 (WCDMA, CDMA, TD-CDMA, LTE) and it can take TF cards on the 2nd SIM slot.

So yeah, if it can use memory cards then its pretty much the newer Snapdragon variant
 
Looks like I'm definitely going to have to hand this one over to the boss when I'm done playing with it, her iphones battery is shot.

China Mall will have the cover and screen protector by the weekend
 
Went to several shops in China Mall Centurion - no luck there for cover and screen protector.
