Xiaomi's first-ever EV unveiled

The billionaire co-founder of Xiaomi Corp. unveiled the company’s first electric vehicle (EV) on Thursday, declaring ambitions to become a top global carmaker in 15 to 20 years and compete against Tesla Inc. and Porsche AG.

The SU7, which stands for Speed Ultra, rolled onto a stage at the China National Convention Center in Beijing with no drivers visible, ending a presentation by CEO and co-founder Lei Jun in front of thousands of people.

I really like what Xiaomi is doing in all the markets it entered. Now the EV motor industry. Obviously it's going to be much cheaper and probably much better. With Xiaomi it like cheaper is always better.

Well done Xiaomi

800km range is actually pretty impressive for their first car. It actually overtakes many of the other already running motor vehicle manufacturers
Definitely,
And would be a more viable.. I heard Elon talk about 600kms range as a possibility but the cost on the batteries with be madness.

True.
Let's not forget that Elon is one of the big reasons other motor vehicle manufacturers have to turn to EV motor vehicles. But yeah 800km is more that Elon and Tesla's 600km range. So I guess it's gonna be a challenging year ahead for Tesla and Elon

Err you okes are aware the 800 kilo range (top model) is quoted by the CLTC?

The China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle is notorious for overshooting their figures a fair bit more than the WLTP (Euro) & the EPA (America).

Do the research & check it out.

And if it comes in at R500k-R800k it will be a winner

"make a car a good as a Taycan," then proceeds to shamelessly copy the Taycan.

Xiaomi typically makes really good stuff at decent prices, it’ll be interesting to see if this pans out.
