Hi all,

Need help with something.

I have a PC here at work that when the user logs in, it logs out immediately.

Same story with administrator account.

I've tried in Safe mode as well as the mode where it uses the last settings that worked... anyone know WTF is the problem?

I know of a virus that did that quite a while ago,,can you log into directory services restore mode?

Virus virus virus is my guess best option is take out the HDD put it into another pc as a slave and scan it, it sounds like a brontok

Something has mucked with the logon dlls specified in the registry. Running antivirus off a UBCD4WIN CD may fix it. This procedure can also help in getting copies of the registry from the System Restore folders, and thus reverting to an older registry:

I had this exact same problem a few days ago with a client XP box. Any account be it local admin or domain admin logged me off, even in safe mode. After scouring around and trying this, unsuccessfully, I resorted to doing a repair install of XP which seems to have fixed the problem. :) Have to say there's a fair amount of these nasties out there. If only clients would stop buying into the Norton Propaganda Machine...

I did a bit of Googling and then just decided to go with the easiest route, XP repair... which I did and it worked.

PHEW :)

Just be careful sometimes doing a repair temprorarily helps by fixing the registry but the virus remains on the pc just check for it!
