I know there are probably about 10 threads related to this but God help me I cant find them :D

Got a friend, he's got Xp Home SP2 and he's just got a new 320GB IDE drive. Its not seeing the full amount, only 120GB. What could be causing this? Its quite a new PC, P4 2.2Ghz

Its to do with how the HDD is formatted ie FAT 16, FAT 32 or NTFS Windoze will only recognise limited size depending on format chosen. I think NTFS will allow whole HDD to be seen (UP TO 3TB, if memory serves me)

could be the filing system like TonyA said or jumpers.. make sure that its on master or slave and that its formated in NTFS.

If the BIOS shows the full (correct) size of the drive, then it's a drive formatting issue. Delete all partitions from the drive (DOING THIS WILL DELETE THE DATA ON IT!), recreate the partition(s) and format it/them using NTFS.

If the BIOS only sees 120GB, then update your motherboard BIOS and start again.

Nah figured the problem out, thanks for all the input though :)

Turns out he had a PCI-IDE controller card that didn't support LBA48bit, after a BIOS update it worked fine.
